DAY3    SAPA

Villages visited: Sau Chua – Sa Seng – Hang Da – Hau Thao (Black Hmong)

Meet your local guide and driver at your hotel in Sapa for a short drive along National Road 4D to the trekking starting point. Begin an uphill trek on a wide, rocky trail, walking through a narrow valley framed by two high mountain ranges. Over the next two hours, pass through the Black Hmong hamlets of Sau Chua and Sa Seng, where traces of the community’s recent transition from shifting cultivation to a more settled way of life are still visible in traditional stone-walled homes and simple structures.

Enjoy a local lunch in the village before continuing uphill for about one hour towards Den Thang Mountain. Arrive at Hang Da Village, located at 1,800 metres above sea level, offering sweeping views over the Muong Hoa Valley. Take time to visit several local homes and gain insight into daily life in this highland community.

From Hang Da, follow an easy high-elevation trail for approximately 30 minutes, revealing some of the most scenic viewpoints over the Muong Hoa Valley. Reach Thao Hong Den village, another Black Hmong settlement, with opportunities to visit local households and capture striking landscape photographs.

Conclude the trek with a one-hour downhill walk along a dirt path to Pho Village, the centre of Hau Thao Commune. Meet your driver and transfer back to Sapa.
