Day 1: Arrival into Hue

Welcome to Hue, the heart of Vietnam’s imperial history. Upon arrival at Phu Bai Airport, your local guide greets you with a warm smile and transfers you to your hotel. On the way, catch glimpses of dragon-embellished gates, graceful pagoda rooftops, and the serene Perfume River, all whispering stories of a bygone royal era. After settling in, take a moment to relax and breathe in Hue’s calm rhythm. As the sun sets, enjoy your first dinner at a local restaurant, where Hue’s refined “royal cuisine” introduces you to the region’s delicate balance of flavors. This evening offers the perfect start to a journey rich in heritage and authentic experiences.

Day 2: Hue City Tour

Today, immerse yourself in Hue’s imperial charm. Cruise gently along the Perfume River to the iconic Thien Mu Pagoda, its seven-tiered tower rising gracefully above the water. Step inside the majestic Minh Mang Mausoleum, where serene gardens and solemn temples reflect the emperor’s legacy. Continue to the UNESCO-listed Imperial Citadel — once the heart of Vietnam’s Nguyen dynasty — with its ornate gates, royal palaces, and sacred halls. Visit the Museum of Antiquities for a glimpse of timeless treasures, then wander the lively Dong Ba Market, where fragrant herbs, colorful fabrics, and local snacks awaken your senses. By the day’s end, you’ll feel Hue’s blend of grandeur and authenticity deeply etched into your memory.

Day 3: Cycling Hue’s Villages

This morning, trade the city streets for Hue’s peaceful countryside. Hop on a bicycle and ride through emerald rice paddies, quiet lanes, and villages where time seems to slow down. Along the way, meet friendly locals, stop at rustic markets, and witness scenes of daily life unchanged for generations. A special highlight awaits at the garden house of Ngoc Son Princess, where you’ll learn stories of history, architecture, and traditions passed down through her family. In the evening, enjoy dinner in another charming garden home, surrounded by blooming flowers and tranquil courtyards — a true taste of Hue’s famed “nha vuon” lifestyle. This day is an invitation to slow down and connect with the authentic soul of Vietnam.

Day 4: Explore the DMZ

Today’s journey takes you to Quang Tri Province, where the scars of the Vietnam War remain etched in the land. Explore the historic DMZ, once the dividing line between North and South. Stand on the Hien Luong Bridge spanning the Ben Hai River, a powerful symbol of Vietnam’s reunification. Walk through the haunting Vinh Moc Tunnels, where entire communities once lived underground to survive wartime bombings. Visit Khe Sanh Combat Base and the Old Citadel of Quang Tri, each site carrying echoes of courage and resilience. Along the way, meet members of the Van Kieu ethnic group, whose traditions remain vibrant despite history’s hardships. This moving day blends history with humanity, offering deep insights into Vietnam’s journey.

Day 5: Hue to Hoi An

Today, the road itself is the adventure. Travel over the legendary Hai Van Pass, where winding roads reveal breathtaking views of the sea and cloud-kissed mountains. Pause to admire the turquoise waters of Lang Co Beach and the shimmering expanse of Tam Giang Lagoon. In Da Nang, discover the Marble Mountains, a cluster of limestone peaks dotted with hidden caves and ancient shrines. Then continue to Hoi An, a World Heritage town whose timeless streets and lantern-lit evenings enchant every traveler. Check into your hotel and take a leisurely stroll through the riverside, where colorful façades and quiet courtyards hint at centuries of global trade and cultural exchange.

Day 6: My Son Sanctuary

This morning, journey into the lush valleys surrounding Hoi An to explore My Son Sanctuary, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Once the spiritual center of the Cham civilization, My Son’s ancient red-brick towers stand as silent witnesses to a culture that flourished for over a millennium. Wander among the ruins as your guide shares stories of Hindu deities, sacred rituals, and the artistry of Cham architecture. Surrounded by jungle and birdsong, the site feels both majestic and mystical. After returning to Hoi An, enjoy the afternoon at leisure to relax or wander its charming streets, perhaps savoring a local coffee while lanterns begin to glow at dusk.

Day 7: Hoi An at Leisure

Today is yours to experience Hoi An as you wish. You may choose to stroll the Old Town’s atmospheric streets, where every alley reveals a new surprise — from tailor shops to art galleries and hidden teahouses. Or escape to the golden sands of An Bang Beach for a day of relaxation by the sea. Food lovers can sample local delicacies such as “cao lau” noodles or take a short cooking class. Whether you spend it exploring, relaxing, or simply absorbing the town’s charm, your free day allows you to connect with Hoi An at your own pace.

Day 8: Departure from Hoi An

Enjoy a final breakfast in this enchanting town before transferring to Da Nang Airport for your onward flight. As you bid farewell to Central Vietnam, you’ll carry home memories of imperial cities, sacred temples, lantern-lit streets, and the warm hospitality of the Vietnamese people.
