I am a local guide in Hanoi and my favourite destination is Ha Giang province in the Northeast of Vietnam. I recommend you travel there during the rice harvest season between September and October for the best rice field scenery. Regardless Ha Giang can be visited all year round. Taking a drive through the Ma Pi Leng pass, visit the lesser visited local ethnic villages and talk to the people who seldom see foreign tourists is a great experience too.
